1.3.1.2.3.3. Profiles

A profile can be defined in order to save the current parameters configuration. By saving profiles the user reduces the risk of losing all predefined values in case of workflow re-uploading. Profiles can also serve as a good history page to follow a specific workflow configuration. In order to view/manage profiles for a workflow, select a workflow timestamp and go to Parameters tab:

NOTE: Profile buttons are disabled for workflow timestamps with no workflow parameters defined

Default Profile

A default profile is automatically saved if the user makes changes to the parameters and clicks the Save&Close button inside the Edit Parameters window. This happens only if the workflow does not already have other profiles saved.

The Cancel button will close the Edit Parameters page and will revert to the last profile applied.

Save Profile

In order to define a profile, you can either use the Save Workflow Profile window or save it from the Save Configuration To New Profile option from Edit Parameters window.

To save the profile using Save Workflow Profile follow the next steps:

  • Select the desired workflow timestamp from the category list.
  • Go to the Parameters tab.
  • Click the Save profile button. The Save Workflow Profile window will open.

  • Type a Name for the new profile.
  • Type few notes for the new profile.
  • Click the Save button.

To save the profile using Save Configuration To New Profile option from Edit Parameters window follow the next steps:

  • Select the desired workflow timestamp from the category list.
  • Go to the Parameters tab.
  • Click on Edit Parameters button and configure parameters as desired.
  • On the Selected Parameter Configuration panel, type the name for the new profile or leave the default one and click on Save Configuration To New Profile. This will save a new profile for the current configuration. If you also want the latest profile to be updated, exit Edit Parameters by clicking Save & Close, otherwise click on Cancel button.

Load Profile

Loading a profile refers to replacing the current parameters configuration with another one, chosen from profiles list.
A workflow's parameters configuration can be changed from a profile created for the same workflow (Current version/All versions options), or from profiles created for a different workflow (All Workflows).

In order to load a profile from the list, follow the next steps:

  • Select a workflow timestamp from the category list
  • Click the Profiles button. The Load Workflow Profile window will open
  • Select the profile desired to be uploaded from the profiles grid
  • Optional, check if the selected profile matches the desired configuration for parameters (check Parameters section)
  • If parameter names and types of the current workflow timestamp matches the ones in the profile, click the Load selected profile button otherwise click on Custom Parameter Configuration button to select for each parameter a matching configuration from the profile selected:

  • Go to Edit Parameters window and check if the parameters were uploaded with the selected profile's configuration

Automatic load of profile on new workflow timestamp on the same workflow version

When a workflow is checked in with the same version, the most recently saved profile for that workflow is automatically applied, without saving a new profile for the new created version of the workflow. Consequently, if the user would prefer an older profile, or a profile from a different workflow, it should be loaded manually.

Automatic loading of a workflow profile on new workflow timestamp saved on different (existing/new) workflow versions

When a workflow is checked in with a new version, the most recently saved profile for that workflow is automatically applied, without saving a new profile for the new created version of the workflow. Consequently, if the user would prefer an older profile, or a profile from a different workflow, it should be loaded manually.

When a workflow is checked in with an existing version, but different than the one from which the workflow was checked out, the most recently saved profile for the new selected version is automatically applied. Consequently, if the user would prefer an older profile, or a profile from a different workflow, it should be loaded manually.

Update Profile

If desired, a user can update a certain profile with the current parameters configuration by manually selecting which profile should be updated, from the Save Profile window:

  • Select the desired workflow from the category list.
  • Click the Save Profile button. The Save workflow profile window will open.
  • Click the Update Existing tab.

  • Select the profile needed to be updated.
  • Click the Save button.

To check if the profile was updated, click on the Parameters tab inside Save workflow profile window (after selecting the profile) or load the updated profile and check parameters in the Edit Parameters window.

Delete Profile

Every defined profile can be deleted from Administrator in two different ways, meaning that the parameter's configuration from that profile wouldn't be available anymore for uploading.
A profile can be deleted inside the Save workflow profile window (Update existing tab) or inside the Load workflow profile window. Both ways require following the next steps:

  • Select the profile needed to be deleted.
  • Click the Delete Profile button and confirm the deletion.

Multiple profiles can be deleted by following the next steps:

  • select the desired profiles by checking the desired check boxes corresponding to the profiles you want to delete
  • click the Delete Profile button.

It is important to know that removing a profile from the database wouldn't affect its previous usage.

Export/Import Profile

In order to export a profile follow the next steps:

  • Select a workflow timestamp from the list and click on Profiles button
  • Select a profile from the list
  • Click the Export Profile button
  • The Profile Name window will open, asking the user to provide a name for the profile
  • Click OK button to finish the profile export. The profile is exported in xml format in the Downloads folder from the user's computer

In order to import an already exported profile, follow the next steps:

  • Select a workflow timestamp from the list and click on Profiles button
  • Click the Import Profile button
  • The File Upload window will open, asking to select an xml file for the profile
  • Check the profiles list to see if the imported profile is displayed, with it's configuration (name, version, parameters)
