2.4.2.2. Clone Workflow

Clone Workflow

To clone a workflow, right click on one of its timestamps and choose the Clone option.



The Clone Workflow window opens. Fill the required data, click Next and then click Finish to finalize the process.



The clone option allows the user to create a copy of an existing workflow, with its current configuration, details and profile(s). 

Clone options:
  • Leave the same Display Name and Version: at the end of the process, a new timestamp will be created, in the same Category and under the same Display Name and Version of the original one:

        
         
  • Change only the Filename: will be created a new node in the workflows tree, in the same Category as the original workflow:

        

  • Change only the Display Name: will be created a new node in the workflows tree, in the same Category as the original workflow:

 
       
  • Change only the Version: will be created a new Version node in the same Category and under the same Display Name as the original workflow:

        

  • Change only the Category (by selecting an existing or creating a new one): will be created a new timestamp under the newly selected category.

  • Change all options: will be created a new timestamp, with new Category, Display Name and Version:

When cloning a workflow, the following settings are also cloned:

  • The Parameters: the parameters are also cloned, including their current configuration and settings (virtual parameters, parameters types, default values, dependencies etc)

  • The Assigned Users and Groups: if there are any assigned users and/or groups, they will also be cloned

  • The assigned Scripts: if there any assigned scripts to a workflow, they will also be cloned
  • The Workflow Form Configuration: settings will be cloned
  • The Profiles: a workflow’s profile(s) will be cloned only if the Display Name and/or Version are changed. If this is the case, a new profile will be created for the cloned workflow, containing its new Version and Display Name.


Clone Snippet Workflow

The clone option allows the user to create a copy of an existing snippet workflow, with its current configuration. 

In order to clone a snippet workflow, select the snippet timestamp, right click to view the context menu and select the Clone option. The Clone Workflow window will open in Snippet Workflow view:



The Clone options are similar to those from Clone Workflow section.

NOTE: The only difference is that by changing the category, the snippet workflow will automatically be converted into a workflow. After the selection of a different category, the view switches from Snippet Workflow view to Workflow view.

When cloning a snippet workflow, the following settings are also cloned:

  • Scripts: if there any assigned scripts to a workflow, they will also be cloned

When cloning a snippet workflow, the following settings are not cloned:

  • Linked Workflows: if there any linked workflows to the original snippet, the links will not be cloned for the new snippet
