1.2.3.2. Start Workflow with Parameters

Workflows can have input parameters that are configured in Administrator → Home→ Workflow Timestamp → Edit Parameters. Depending on the configuration of the input parameters, different views for specific parameter configuration will be loaded in Start Workflow form in Portal. 

Parameter Groups 

Input parameters can be grouped into Parameter Groups. The default parameter group is the Unassigned group. If there are parameters unassigned to other groups, this will be the first displayed group in the Start Workflow window. If all parameters are assigned to groups, the Unassigned Parameters group will not be displayed in Start Workflow form.  The parameter groups will be displayed in the order configured within Administrator. Navigation between parameter groups is done via Next and Previous buttons.

• Start Workflow with no parameter groups:

•  Start Workflow with parameter groups (in the example below, parameters will be grouped into three parameter groups )

• When the last parameter group is displayed, the View Summary button will be displayed instead of Next Button.

Parameter Summary

If workflow contains parameter and the toggle is set to on (check 1.3.1.2.2. Workflow Configuration ), the View Summary button will be visible. In this section all the values configured for the parameters will appear. Hidden parameters or groups will not get displayed here. If workflow is scheduled the values added in this section will appear as well.

• Start Workflow button will be displayed at the bottom of the summary page. If workflow doesn't contain parameters or all the parameters are hidden the Start workflow Button will be displayed instead of View Summary button.
  

Parameters Types

Flowster Studio is currently managing multiple types of parameters, each visible in a different view and having different functionalities:

• TextBox: editable at runtime or with editable/read-only predefined value.
• ComboBox: non editable at runtime. Single element selection.
• ListView: non editable at runtime. Accepts multiple selection. 
• AD Picker: non editable at runtime. Accepts filtering.
• VM Picker: non editable at runtime. Single element selection.
• Date Picker: editable at runtime or with editable/read-only/hidden predefined value.
• File Browser: single file selection.
• Logged In User: default value is the logged in user. Editable at runtime.
• Password Box: editable/hidden at runtime. String is masked and value sent is encrypted. 
• Checkbox: editable/read-only predefined value.
  
• VMware Host Picker: non editable at runtime. Accepts multiple selection. 
• Object Selector: non editable at runtime. Accepts multiple selection if parameter type is a List[] or single element selection if parameter type is String. 
• Slider: non editable at runtime. Single element selection from a predefined range.
• Grid: editable/read-only configuration set per column or general. Accepts single or multiple selection.
• System Info: read-only at runtime.
• Time Picker: As the name suggest it is a parameter that returns the current time, a blank field or another specified time ( it can be enabled, hidden or disabled)
• Terms Of Use: editable at runtime. Must be checked to enable Start Workflow button. 

Note:  All parameters may, at some point, depend on other parameters from the same workflow. dependencies are triggered when a field is clicked or when click on Next button.
